June 18th was a perfect evening in The Beach. The band shell played host to the 2 year old Worsley School Band (conducted by the talented, dedicated and enthusiastic teacher, Mr. Morin - top photo yellow shirt) and wowed the local crowd of all ages. What a great performance! Some rock, pop, jazz, classical and contemporary. You can click on the photos to enlarge. Idol Star Drew Wright to Perform Locally

Drew Wright will once again take the stage in Collingwood. This time as the front man of his new band Fall and Divide. The quartet - which features Bret Carrigan (drums), Paul Fonseca (bass) and Jean Arcand (lead guitar) - will be performing at the Gayety Theatre on Wed., Apr. 29 and Thurs., Apr. 30. Wright, of Canadian Idol fame, has been playing with Carrigan - a former drummer of the band Honeymoon Suite - for several years and said the group formed in December.Fall and Divide frontman Drew Wright always preferred the camaraderie of a band. He felt that the industry contacts he had made during his achievement as second-runner-up on Canadian Idol would be best put to use by creating a new project. Naturally, he turned to some of the best talent in the area. Drew acquired Bret Carrigan, the heavy hitting rock drummer that he had played with on many occasions previous. Bret, being a very sought after player, knew just the right guys to finish the line up: Paul Fonseca, his partner-in-rhythm on bass and Jean Arcand on lead guitar were added to complete Fall and Divide. Drew's array of musical influences —ranging as wide as Nat King Cole to System of a down— have provided him with a knack for sophisticated, sweeping melodies that sit uniquely atop his progressive guitar playing. Jean, who brings a bluesy rock feel to the group, utilizes his technical ability and musical maturity to complement Drew's soaring vocals. Paul and Bret, who had already had years of playing together under their belts, add the professionalism and tight groove that reins in the band's sound. The band's democratic approach to songwriting has already churned out a number of single-worthy tracks that don't settle for radio-rock cliches; they have their inspirations firmly rooted in the genre's past, but their sights set on the future.
Fall and Divide have already attracted the attention of no less than Donald K. Donald, the founder of Aquarius Records and the man whose ushered in everyone from Sum 41 to Danko Jones. With an EP and tour planned for the spring and a debut LP set for a winter release, the quartet is set to make 2009 the year fans of hard rock everywhere fell for Fall and Divide.
Tickets are available by phone (705) 445-9030 or in person at Gabriele Photography at 133 Hurontario St., Collingwood. Ticket prices are $29.99 or $44.99 (includes a meet and greet).
